Give the quotation team the information that actually matters.
A stronger RFQ is not necessarily a longer RFQ. It is a clearer description of the loads, operating mode, storage goal, site context and equipment constraints.
Describe what must run.
- Continuous load in kW.
- Starting or surge loads for motors and other difficult loads.
- Important single-phase / three-phase loads where relevant.
- Critical loads that must remain online during a grid event.
Say what the battery must do.
- Required backup duration or usable energy target.
- Whether the goal is backup, solar shifting, demand management or a mixture.
- Any required minimum state of charge or reserve strategy.
- Expected daily cycling or unusual operating conditions.
Describe the energy sources.
- Existing or proposed PV capacity in kWp.
- Preferred panel wattage and approximate quantity.
- Generator presence and required integration.
- Existing inverter / switchgear that the new equipment must interface with.
The equipment is only one part of the design.
Electrical environment
Utility arrangement, available supply, phase configuration, intended point of connection, and any existing protection or switchgear constraints.
Physical environment
Equipment location, access route, room / container conditions, ventilation, clearances, cable routes and environmental exposure.
Compliance & installation
Final installation, protection, commissioning and statutory requirements belong with the responsible electrical / engineering team for the project and jurisdiction.
What makes an RFQ efficient
Send one coherent brief.
- Use the system builder for a preliminary configuration where useful.
- Open the Project Pack to review the calculated screening results and source references.
- Carry the configuration reference into your enquiry.
- Attach or describe any existing equipment that must remain part of the system.
- Ask for the exact model numbers and applicable manufacturer documentation in the quotation.
